Leave a Legacy for Pueblo County Kids

Have you ever dreamed of leaving a transformative gift that could change lives and the community?
We welcome you to consider joining Boys & Girls Clubs of Pueblo County’s Heritage Club, a group of committed individuals and couples creating opportunities for future generations in Pueblo County through endowments, estate gifts, and bequests. Bequests and Endowments are not just for the wealthy. They are means by which ordinary people make extraordinary gifts.

The terms endowment, estate gift, and bequest are often used interchangeably, but they have distinct meanings and implications. An endowment is a permanent fund that generates income over time to support a specific purpose, like the Clubs. An estate gift refers to a transfer of assets during the donor's lifetime, which can include cash, real estate, or personal property. A bequest is a specific gift left to a beneficiary in a will, typically given after the donor's death. Bequests are subject to probate and may be subject to estate taxes, while estate gifts and endowments are not.

By developing a thorough estate plan with your financial adviser or attorney, you can reduce the overall tax burden of your estate while providing a lasting legacy for youth in Pueblo County. We would love the opportunity to provide additional information or discuss the many options available with you and your financial adviser. As the donor, your planned gift can be restricted to purposes that speak to your passions and priorities.

Drafting a will, no matter your level of wealth, is a key component of an estate plan. It enables you to care for your estate, family and the organizations you value beyond your lifetime. Many donors can provide more substantial gifts through a bequest than through annual contributions. As a result, bequests can create a financial foundation for our organization’s sustainability. Simple language, as follows, can be included to establish a bequest when you prepare a new will or add a codicil to an existing one.

"I give [indicate a dollar amount or a specific % of the remainder of your estate]
to Boys & Girls Clubs of Pueblo County, presently located at 635 W. Corona Avenue, Suite 100,
[for its general use] or [for some specific purpose]."

To date, planned gifts have helped us build our Endowment Fund, which is a permanent self-sustaining source of funding invested for long-term growth and controlled by our Board of Directors. Our board has never withdrawn funds or interest from the Endowment. As of September 30, 2025, the end of Q3, the fund totaled $283,121.
