Madilynne enjoys being involved in online communities and has long been drawn to computer games that provide a sense of connection, such as Roblox and Discord. The staff have taken this as an opportunity to engage her in conversations about the dangers of online communities and how to keep herself safe. Last year, she joined the Girls Rock volleyball team, an experience that helped her become more engaged in face-to-face social interactions. She enjoyed the program and began forming friendships with peers she had previously known but not interacted with closely. Although she did not make the middle school volleyball team due to strong competition, this experience did not discourage her. Madilynne is looking forward to participating in Girls Rock again in the Spring. She and several teammates have begun practicing together during open gym time and make plans to attend the Club on Tuesdays for dedicated volleyball time in the gym.

Madilynne is a very kind hearted person. She doesn’t like to see others hurt and feels really bad if she inadvertently hurts someone else. She will, however, stand up for herself and her friends fiercely. When she feels she is in the right, she will stand her ground. We commend her for doing so because it was always so hard for her to even interact with others before.
