Position Overview
The Outdoor Equity Coordinator is a part-time, grant-funded position (funded through 2030) that helps youth ages 6–18 and their families connect with the outdoors. From hiking, biking, and fishing to skiing, camping, and environmental education, you’ll bring adventure, fun, and learning to life.

This role offers the opportunity to work across our nine Clubs and three CO-APP sites, helping youth explore the outdoors while promoting equity and access for all.


Schedule

  • Fridays & Saturdays: 8-hour shifts (normal operating hours)
  • Tuesday–Thursday: Flexible hours during program time (2 p.m.–7 p.m.)
  • Some evenings and weekends as needed
  • No more than 25 hours/week


Pay & Benefits

  • $15.25–$17.00/hour (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate outdoor activities and trips (monthly experiences, field trips, outdoor education, etc.)
  • Create safe, fun, and inclusive environments that encourage participation and skill-building
  • Supervise youth groups of various sizes (small to large)
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners
  • Maintain accurate records (attendance, planning, evaluations)
  • Model positive behavior and reinforce Boys & Girls Clubs’ youth development philosophy


Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in education, recreation, environmental studies, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and guide children
  • Computer proficiency (Google Suite preferred)
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (training provided)
  • Commitment and advocacy for underrepresented groups. Willingness to work in multicultural settings.
  • Physically able to lead outdoor activities (reasonable accommodations available)


Work Environment

  • Active, outdoors-based role with hiking, biking, and other physical activities
  • Work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind)
  • Requires ability to lift 50 lbs, remain active for extended periods, and adapt to dynamic program environments
  • Some exposure to illness and high-energy environments
  • Balance multiple tasks and respond calmly in emergencies
