Jena Sanchez

Volunteer Director

Jena grew up on a small midwestern family farm and graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science double major in outdoor recreation and natural resource management.

She spent four years as a Chief Ranger with Virginia State Parks working in law enforcement and
environmental education. Upon migrating to Colorado, Jena worked for the US Forest Service as an Interpretive Specialist, dabbling in international forestry and wildland fire support while specializing in public lands historical and cultural interpretation.

Before joining Boys & Girls Club Jena worked for Colorado Parks & Wildlife as the regional volunteer coordinator, developing community involvement projects from Lamar to Leadville. Jena worked closely with southern Colorado colleges engaging many students & interns in natural resource field work during her career.

Jena believes in the BGC mission and promoting community involvement and stewardship for Pueblo youth and volunteers. She has raised her family on a Pueblo County ranch, and enjoys all that is southern Colorado – the people, the diverse culture, the rich history, the fantastic food, and the spectacular scenery that makes Pueblo so special. Volunteers inspire Jena to stay active and to keep making our habitat better for future generations.
