Kid of the Year

The Kid of the Year award is one of highest honors a Boys & Girls Club member can receive. The title recognizes outstanding contributions to a young member’s family, school, community and Boys & Girls Club, as well as personal challenges and obstacles overcome.

Adaliah
2024 Kid of the Year
Avondale Clubhouse

Adaliah has been a member of the Avondale Boys & Girls Club for two years. She attends the Club nearly everyday, with a smile from ear to ear. Adaliah comes to Club with a different mindset to let loose and have fun. She not only feels safe but she does her job to make sure no one is left out or bullied. Club is a place where she feels welcomed, safe, and can have fun without being judged for who she is. Adaliah wants to be a part of a judgment-free zone. She may be one of our smallest members but she definitely packs one of the biggest punches all-around! She doesn’t just attend Club, she lives at Club. What we mean by that is she attends every program offered for her age group and, when she isn’t attending programs, she participates in gym activities, arts and crafts, HYLA’s (high yield learning activities), Kids Club, and special events. This year alone, Adaliah graduated from Healthy Habits (twice), Science Explorers, Hands on Banking, Crazy 8”s Math, Summer Brain Gain, Positive Action, and 3 R’s. Through her high attendance and participation in Summer Brain Gain, Adaliah secured a spot to attend the Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience in Cañon City. We realize that just hearing the program names doesn’t mean a lot to you, but if you knew the Boys & Girls Club’s formula for impact (taking the young people who need us most and give them an outcome driven experience, then they will excel in Good Character & Leadership, Academic Success, and Healthy Lifestyles), you would understand that Adaliah is the epitome of what Boys & Girls Clubs of America visualizes for our members.
